Digital8

Digital8 is a consumer digital recording format for camcorders based on the 8mm video format developed by Sony and introduced in 1999.  Utilizing top quality and well maintained recorders we can capture the best that your recordings have to offer.

Your video memories captured from this format begin their existence as raw digital copies.  From there, you may elect to have them burned to a playable DVD format that's compatible with home DVD players you connect to your television.  You also have the choice of receiving these digital copies in a format suitable to play on your personal computer and/or upload to internet hosting sites such as "Youtube".  Alternatively you may choose both options, as it would only add the cost of an additional DVD disc to your order.

There is a finite lifespan to video tapes.  Extending the lifespan of these video recordings involves having stored them out of direct sunlight, in a dry cool dust-free environment.  Eventually they will begin to deteriorate and lose their recorded contents resulting in a buildup of image noise and dropouts.  Tapes more than 15 years old may start to show these signs of degradation.  Among these problems, they can become sticky, jamming playback units or become brittle or snap.  We will of course take the utmost care with your video tapes, but given the magnetic and mechanical nature of tapes, tape failure or poor video quality may be encountered.  We cannot be held responsible for this.

Below you'll see a clip of video transferred from Digital8 to a video file compatible with standard DVDs or internet hosting sites.
